Ismart Shankar Review – Just Mass!

Ismart Shankar is the film that has created a lot of buzz in Tollywood with its hardcore mass scenes, dialogues, passionate romance and exposing of female leads. The teaser and trailer got a mixed response. Though Ram energy levels and Mani Sharma’s music was praised, a section of the audience criticized the over-exposing done by Niddhi Agerwal and Nabha Natesh. Also, some people felt that Ram’s Telangana slang is artificial. However, one of the female leads Niddhi told people to watch the film but don’t decide her role depending on the trailer.

Directed by Puri Jagannadh, Ismart Shankar is expected to be a complete mass film and teaser, trailer and songs have proved it already. But, one doubt will be raised in everyone’s mind that powerful dialogues, romance, exposing and energy levels of actors’ are enough for the film to become hit and successful or it needs a strong storyline too? Well, that will be decided by the audience. For now, let’s review the film ‘Ismart Shankar’!

Ismart Shankar Story:

Ismart Shankar(Ram) is a mass guy who does small settlements. And one day, he gets a big offer which changes his life completely. He makes a contract to kill a high-end politician and murders him. Police arrest Shankar and then he escapes from jail and flew away with his girlfriend Nabha Natesh. On the other hand, Arun(Satyadev) is a cop who handles this case. When he was about to catch the main culprit, he gets killed. Then cops transfer Arun memory to Ismart Shankar. How Shankar deals the case and how he suffers from dual memory and finally, how he solves the case forms the remaining story.

Ismart Shankar Review:

Ram is perfect in his role and his transformation is mind-boggling. His energy levels are as usual high and dialogue delivery is good. Throughout the film, he used Telangana slang which has worked out as masses are the one who prefers Puri movies. His dance moves and fights definitely need a special mention. His romance with Nabha Natesh would be a plus point.

Nabha Natesh has appeared on the screen for a limited role but provided an eye feast for the masses in a few scenes and songs. Her hotness has caught the people’ attention and there is nothing much for her to perform in the film. Nabha’s role as a girlfriend to Shankar is all about their chemistry and romance.

Another lead actress Nidhhi gets a good role and performed okay. She is seen as a scientist who researches on memory. But, as a scientist, we could see no meaning for her to expose this lot! Over exposing for a scientist definitely seems meaningless as people expect a classy look. The rawness may attract masses but the people who see logic will feel it silly and irritating. Satyadev has a very small yet crucial role and he performed well. Sayaji Shinde did his job. Deepak Mishra, Punit Issar and others are okay in their roles.

When it comes to Puri Jagannadh, what people could expect from him are punch dialogues, fights, raw romance, double meaning dialogues and a cop story. He did the same in Ismart Shankar too. Though all these factors are liked by masses, we are sure that the family audience will hate every part of the film. But, we cannot blame the director for it as the movie team itself confirmed that the film is for masses and it got ‘A’ certificate too! Though the memory transfer concept is good, Puri failed to continue the story aptly and confused people. The reason is he focused more on dialogues and romance rather on the story which is a sad thing.

Production values are superb. Charmme Kaur is successful finally, in terms of production. Though Puri is also a part of the production, it is Charmme who got involved much into production. The location and visuals look wonderful. Music by Mani Sharma is the biggest asset of the film as all the songs provided by him are entertaining and they were shot well too. Editing and cinematography are decent.
