Jaggaiahpet Municipal Chairman Raghavendra Joins TDP Alongside Councillors
Jaggaiahpet Municipal Chairman Rangapuram Raghavendra, after resigning from the YSRC, officially joined the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) on Friday. He was welcomed by TDP general secretary and Human Resource Development Minister Nara Lokesh at Lokesh's residence in Undavalli. Raghavendra was accompanied by Pusapati Seetharamamma (7th ward councillor), D. Ramadevi (23rd ward), and Ginjupalli Venkat Rao (31st ward), who also shifted their allegiance to the TDP.
During the welcoming ceremony, Lokesh criticized YSRC president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, accusing him of politicizing flood relief efforts despite the state government’s measures to support those affected. MLA Sriram Tataiah noted that the Jaggaiahpet municipality has now been secured by the TDP, with their strength increasing from 14 to 18 members in the 31-member council. The YSRC's presence has dwindled to 13.
Raghavendra expressed that the decision to join the TDP stemmed from a desire to be part of development initiatives, pointing out the lack of progress under the YSRC's previous administration in the municipality.
