Justice Served! Pratika Rawal Finally Gets Her World Cup Medal
After weeks of anticipation, cricketer Pratika Rawal finally received her ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 winner’s medal, sharing the emotional moment with Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the Indian women’s team’s visit to his residence in New Delhi.
PM Modi warmly congratulated captain Harmanpreet Kaur and her team for their historic victory over South Africa in the final, marking India’s first-ever Women’s World Cup triumph. He praised the players for their resilience, especially after a difficult start to the tournament and heavy social media criticism.
Pratika, who was sidelined due to an ankle injury during the tournament, had been one of India’s top performers before her setback — scoring 308 runs, including a century and a half-century. Despite missing the semifinals and final, she remained a key part of the team’s emotional journey.
Reflecting on the moment, Pratika said, “There are no words to describe this feeling. Watching from the sidelines was harder than playing. But to see our flag raised, to be here with my team — it’s beyond surreal.”
Her teammates ensured Pratika was celebrated as part of the victory, making her medal ceremony an unforgettable experience. The event showcased not just India’s sporting achievement but also the unity and emotional strength that carried the team to glory.
