Kamal Haasan, Chiranjeevi, Mahesh Babu Congratulate Indian Women’s Team on Historic World Cup Win!
India’s maiden ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 triumph has drawn a wave of applause from film icons across South India, including Kamal Haasan, Chiranjeevi, and Mahesh Babu, who hailed the victory as a defining moment for Indian sports.
Chiranjeevi took to X, calling it “a proud and historic day for Indian cricket.” He wrote, “It’s the victory of every young girl who dared to dream, every parent who believed, and every fan who cheered with pride.”
Team India, led by Harmanpreet Kaur, defeated South Africa by 52 runs in the finals. Shafali Verma top-scored with 87, Deepti Sharma added 58, and Richa Ghosh chipped in with a vital 34 to seal India’s first-ever World Cup title.
Kamal Haasan described the moment as “the 1983 moment of Indian women’s cricket,” celebrating the players’ courage and spirit. Mahesh Babu, meanwhile, lauded the team’s composure, writing, “History added its proudest chapter with the tricolour flying higher than ever.”
Celebrities including Gopichand and Manchu Manoj also joined the celebration, praising the team’s grit and inspiring energy. Manoj wrote, “Every moment on the field reflected the strength and spirit of our champions.”
