Legendary football star Pele passes away
Pele, the Brazil footballing legend, passed away recently. He is 82 and his daughter revealed the tragic news on social media on Thursday.
Pele, whose given name was Edson Arantes do Nascimento, is the only soccer player to win the World Cup 3 times and he also had a world record on his name by scoring 1,281 goals in his career.
Pele is one of most renowned athletes in modern history. He was born on October 23, 1940, in the small Minas Gerais town of Tres Corações, the veteran footballer was dubbed as the first global superstar of the game and he won three World Cups, in the years 1958, 1962, and 1970.
As per the recent reports, Pele had been hospitalized since November with many ailments. Following his demise, tributes have begun to pour in from the sports fraternity and the world.
