A sculpture named Rabbit, made by an artist who is alive breaks the record by overtaking the previous record, in two different auctions. The previous record was set by a living British Painter David Hockney, which was sold at Christie’s in November for 90.3 million dollars.
Jeff Koons, an American artist sold a sculpture, stainless steel casting of an inflatable rabbit, a star of auction house’s spring sale, on Wednesday for 91.1 million dollars. The name of the sculpture is “Rabbit”, whose initial selling price was only $ 80 million, but once the commission and fees were added the final price rose to 91.075 million dollars.
This was return for Koon’s, whose one more sculpture Balloon Dog holds the first position of the highest price of $58.4, for 5 years.
This work, Rabbit was created in 1986 by Koon’s is the best-known work, who build a reputation for challenging art world conventions.
