The widow of Colonel B Santhosh Kumar Babu, who was killed-in-action in the India-China face-off, has been appointed as a commercial tax officer for the government of Telangana.
State chief secretary Somesh Kumar issued the orders Monday night. Santoshi has to report to the commissioner of the concerned department within 30 days. The government has also provided her an opportunity to choose the post of her choice.
As we know this already that Chief Minister KCR has visited the Colonel's residence in Suryapet on Monday. He paid floral tributes to the martyred army officer and enquired about the well being of his children. He then handed over the financial package to the family.
The CM gave away Rs 4 crore cheque, an appointment order of a group 1 post and the papers of 711 square yards of land near KBR Park in Banjara Hills to Santoshi. Rao also handed over Rs 1 crore cheque to the Colonel Santosh Babu's parents.
He also announced financial aid of Rs 10 lakh each to the families of soldiers killed in action.
Colonel Santosh Babu who was the commanding officer (CO) of the 16 Bihar infantry battalion of the Indian Army was dead in a skirmish with Chinese troops at Galwan valley on the night of June 15.
