Medak Floods: Over 400 Students Stranded, Rescue Operations Ongoing

Heavy monsoon rains in Telangana triggered severe flooding in Medak district, leaving more than 400 students trapped in a hostel. Rising water levels surrounded the building, sparking panic among parents and locals.
Rescue teams, led by the Fire Department, swiftly mobilized boats and other equipment to evacuate the children. So far, 150 students have been rescued safely, while efforts continue to bring the remaining students to safety. Parents anxiously gathered near the site, while local residents joined the rescue operation to speed up efforts.
Officials confirmed that all students are being shifted to secure shelters, assuring families that safety measures are in place. The situation has highlighted the vulnerability of hostels and schools in low-lying areas of Telangana during heavy rains.
Authorities remain on high alert as the weather department predicts more rainfall in the region. Rescue teams, aided by volunteers, are continuing their work round the clock. While officials expressed confidence that all children will be rescued safely, the incident underscores the urgent need for better disaster preparedness in flood-prone districts.
The Medak floods have once again drawn attention to the impact of climate change and inadequate drainage systems in parts of Telangana. Citizens have been advised to remain cautious and avoid venturing into waterlogged zones until conditions improve.
