Shreyas Iyer was awarded the man of the match for his match-winning 58 from 29 balls. The partnership between Iyer and Manish Pandey, worth 62 off just 34 deliveries, led India to victory.
On the New Zealand side, Martin Guptill and Colin Munro opened and gave New Zealand an explosive start before getting out at 30 and 59, respectively. However, captain Kane Williamson, with his swift 51 of 26 balls, and dangerous Ross Taylor, with his maiden 54 off 27 balls, made sure that their team reaches a respectable total.
However, credit should be given to Indian bowlers for restricting the New Zealand cricket team approaching a high score. Rahul and Kohli took charge of the innings with an 80-run partnership coming off only 47 balls.
