Microsoft, Amazon, Google Support A Lawsuit Against New H-1B Visa Rules
A number of universities and 46 tech majors give support for a lawsuit filed against the H-1B rules announced by Trump. The companies in favor of the lawsuit include Google, Microsoft, Amazon, and Facebook.
The US Chamber of Commerce and 12 filed the lawsuit other organizations and universities in Northern California court recently. Also, the American Immigration Council and the US universities like Harvard and Massachusetts Institute for Technology to extend its support.
The rules attempted to make it complex for H-1B to qualify for the organization due to an increase in wages significantly and additional restrictions to qualify for H-1B.
It would impact them the Indian tech companies and IT firms as they are the largest beneficiaries of the visa. To oppose this 3-lawsuits were filed in total. Apart from the ones filed by the US Chamber of Commerce and others, 2 more lawsuits were filed in the US against the rules.
The companies added that this would lead to greater reliance by the American companies on operations outside of the US—inflicting long-term damage to the country’s economic growth.
They further added that new rules would irreparably injure companies and the entire U.S. economy by forcing businesses to discharge current employees.
