Miraculous Escape for Passengers as Fire Guts Private Sleeper Bus Near Nalgonda
In a dramatic and near-tragic incident, passengers travelling on a private sleeper bus narrowly escaped death when the vehicle caught fire near Veliminedu village in Nalgonda district during the early hours of Tuesday. The bus, operated by Vihari Travels, was en route from Hyderabad to Kandukur in Andhra Pradesh and had started its journey around midnight. By the time it reached Chityal mandal, approximately 150 km from Hyderabad, disaster struck.
According to initial reports, the air-conditioned sleeper coach suddenly caught fire, believed to have originated from within the vehicle. The situation quickly escalated, but the driver’s timely alert proved crucial in saving lives. Noticing smoke and sensing danger, he immediately woke up the sleeping passengers, urging them to evacuate. In panic, several passengers broke open window panes to escape the flames. Thanks to the quick response, everyone managed to get out just before the fire engulfed the bus.
Although early reports mentioned around 20 passengers on board, officials later confirmed that there were 29 people travelling in the vehicle. Miraculously, all escaped without major injuries. Within minutes, the fire spread rapidly and consumed the entire bus, reducing it to a charred, twisted mass of metal. The blaze was so intense that nothing inside could be salvaged.
The bus, registered in Nagaland, was completely destroyed by the time fire tenders arrived at the scene. Investigations are underway to determine the exact cause of the fire, with authorities examining whether an electrical short-circuit or mechanical failure triggered the incident. Despite the devastation, the fortunate escape of all passengers has been hailed as nothing short of miraculous, preventing the incident from turning into a major tragedy.
