More Excited than Nervous Looking at Lively Pitches: Virat Kohli
India captain Virat Kohli said that he was really excited to see the pitch at the Optus stadium in Perth.
The WACA head curator unveiled a green wicket on Thursday, which delighted Kohli, who is looking forward to the challenge.
"I was pretty happy to see the pitch the way it is. I hope that no more grass is taken off the pitch because that will mean the first three days will be very lively and we as a team are happy with that” Virat said.
"We just have to challenge ourselves as a batting unit, show discipline and show positive intent”, he added.
"And then ask the bowlers to do the job they did at Adelaide as well. I think this pitch is going to offer significantly more to the bowlers than Adelaide did and that's something we're very excited about to be honest," Kohli said a day before the second Test.
"We understand that if we bat well, we will definitely get the result that we want. It's a very exciting phase to be in," Kohli added.
Australia head coach Justin Langer was also happy with what he saw at the new venue, which is all set to host its first Test match.
