‘Movement Charlie Built Will Never Die’: Erika Kirk Speaks After Husband’s Killing

In her first emotional statement since the tragic killing of her husband, conservative activist Charlie Kirk, Erika Kirk vowed that the movement he created would endure and only grow stronger. Speaking through tears, she thanked former President Donald Trump and his family for their unwavering support. “Mr President, my husband loved you, and he knew that you loved him too,” she said, adding that Vice President JD Vance and his wife Usha had been instrumental in “bringing him home.”
Charlie Kirk, co-founder of Turning Point USA, was fatally shot during a debate at Utah Valley University on September 10. Erika recalled that her husband’s vision, had he entered politics, was to prioritize the revival of the American family. “Charlie loved life. He loved his life. He loved America,” she said.
The tragedy led to a massive 30-hour manhunt that ended with the arrest of 22-year-old Tyler Robinson, found more than 250 miles away. Authorities confirmed that Robinson acted alone. His capture came after a family friend contacted law enforcement when Robinson allegedly confessed. His father also recognized him from police-released photos.
Robinson is currently being held at Utah County Jail on suspicion of aggravated murder and other felonies. Officials said he threatened suicide before surrendering. Prosecutors expect him to appear in court on Tuesday, with charges likely to be filed the same day. Utah Attorney General Derek Brown has not ruled out the death penalty, stating that “everything is on the table.”
Governor Spencer Cox praised the family friend who alerted police, saying it prevented further tragedy. As the nation mourns, Erika Kirk’s words reflect resilience: the mission and ideals her husband championed, she promised, will not die with him.
