NTR Likely to Play Dadasaheb Phalke in Ambitious Biopic ‘Made in India’

In what could be a landmark project for Indian cinema, reports suggest that acclaimed actor NTR Jr. may take on the iconic role of Dadasaheb Phalke, widely regarded as the father of Indian filmmaking, in an upcoming biopic titled Made in India. Though no official confirmation has been made, sources close to the development indicate that NTR has shown strong interest and may have verbally agreed to portray the legendary figure.
The project is reportedly being spearheaded by filmmaker SS Rajamouli, his son SS Karthikeya, and producer Varun Gupta. The trio recently met NTR to narrate the script and discuss the scope of the film, which has been in the pipeline for quite some time. An announcement teaser for Made in India was released last year, generating early buzz and anticipation about the biopic’s scale and storytelling ambitions.
If finalized, the film would mark a significant shift for NTR Jr., known for his intense and action-packed roles, as he steps into the shoes of a historical and culturally significant figure. Dadasaheb Phalke’s life and contributions laid the foundation for the Indian film industry, making this role a prestigious opportunity for any actor.
Meanwhile, NTR is currently immersed in a packed schedule. He is filming Dragon with director Prashanth Neel and has recently completed work on War 2. He is also gearing up for Devara 2, directed by Koratala Siva, and another untitled project with Nelson Dilipkumar.
As anticipation builds, fans are eagerly awaiting an official announcement. If confirmed, Made in India could become one of the most defining films of NTR’s career and a major tribute to Indian cinema’s origins.
