New Zealand Defeat India to Clinch the Series by 2-0
New Zealand made it to 2-0 as they defeated the men in blue in the 2nd ODI played at the Eden Park in Auckland. India failed to chase down the target of 274 runs despite coming close and conceded the series 2-0.
Surely 274 was not a big target on a small ground for Indians. But what seemed unfavorable was the fact that the pitch was on a slower side. Ravindra Jadeja and Shreyas Iyer slammed half-centuries while Navdeep Saini played a brilliant cameo of 49-ball 45 to take India closer to victory, but the visitors eventually fell short.
Saini had smacked Kyle Jamieson for a six but was bowled in the next ball. Skipper Virat Kohli was even seen asking Saini to stay calm after he hit the ball out of Park. Pacer Kyle Jamieson also picked up the ‘Player of the Match’ award for his all-round performance on his debut.
The third of the fifth ODI match between India and New Zealand will be played at the Bay Oval in Mount Maunganui on February 11.
