New Zealand has seen one of the darkest days in its history on Friday which is a day for weekly prayers of Muslims nationwide. At least 49 people have been killed and more than 40 others wounded in shootings at two mosques in Christchurch, New Zealand, after a gunman opened fire at worshippers.
A man in his late 20's is arrested and charged with murder. The PM has confirmed that he was Australian. Along with him, two other armed people were arrested although their role in all this is not yet clear.
The man arrested used helmet camera and live-streamed to the world in graphic detail his assault on worshippers. Amidst all this Police warned Muslims against going to a mosque anywhere in New Zealand. And Air New Zealand cancelled several flights in and out of Christchurch, saying it couldn’t properly screen customers and baggage.
Even India strongly condemned the attack with Sushma Swaraj tweeting expressing her condolences to families of those affected.
In this moment of grief, India stands in solidarity with the people and Government of New Zealand @winstonpeters /2
