Not US, Indian Students want to go Canada and Australia now!
Students who want to pursue their higher education in the US are dropping their plans, fearing Trump. And now, there are heading to Canada and Australia.
According to the Canada Bureau of International Education, the country hosted 4.9 lakh international students, a 20 per cent increase of international students in 2017 from the previous year.
Among them, Indian students were 25 per cent and China students were 28 per cent. The figure even crossed the government’s own International Education Strategy goal of 4.5 lakh international students by 2022.
Australia has also seen the similar increase in numbers. According to the department of education and training of the Australian government, there were 6.9 lakh international students in 2018, an 11 per cent increase from 2017. Among them, 13 per cent students are from India and 30 per cent from China.
Sanjeev Rai, CEO of Hyderabad Overseas Consultants, said that they have seen 50 per cent rise in the applicants hoping to head Canada and Australia.
