Over 28,000 Coronavirus Cases In India In 24 Hours, Biggest One-Day Jump
India saw a record single-day jump of 28,701 COVID-19 cases for the second day straight pushing its tally to 8,78,254 on Monday, while the death toll climbed to 23,174 with 500 people died due to the virus.
Meanwhile, as many as 5,53,470 patients have recovered and number of active patients now crosses the three lakh mark to stand at 3,01,609. The national recovery rate had increased to 62.93 percent.
Maharashtra continues to be the worst-affected state with 2,46,600 COVID-19 cases so far. Also, at least 18 people at Maharashtra’s Raj Bhavan, the official residence of the governor in Mumbai, have tested positive for COVID-19. Maharashtra.
Maharashtra is followed by Delhi with 1,573 new coronavirus cases and 37 deaths in the last 24 hours, and a total tally of 1,12,494 cases, including 3,371 deaths.
Globally, India has remained the third worst-hit country by coronavirus behind US and Brazil. Coronavirus has killed over 560,000 people since the outbreak emerged in China last December and more than 12.5 million cases have been registered till now.
