PM Modi And Bill Gates Discuss Coronavirus Situation Through Video Conference
Prime Minister Narendra Modi interacted with philanthropist and co-chair of Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Bill Gates via video conferencing on Thursday, May 14.
In the video conferencing meet, they discussed the global response to the coronavirus pandemic and the importance of global coordination on scientific innovation to fight it.
PM Modi highlighted some of the measures that India has taken to fight the virus. He emphasized on a approach that includes public involvement through proper appropriate messaging.
Modi praised Bill Gates for his health related work being done all over the world, including for coordinating global response to Covid-19.
“He sought suggestions from Mr. Gates on how India’s capacities and capabilities could be better leveraged for the general benefit of the world,” a statement said.
They both discussed on India’s unique model of last-mile health service delivery in rural areas, dissemination of the effective contact-tracing mobile app developed by government of India, and developing India’s pharmaceutical sector to enhance its productivity to come out with every possible vaccine and treatment for disease.
