With over 53 million followers on Twitter, over 44 million on Facebook and over 35 million on Instagram, Narendra Modi, has been called as social media sensation for his huge number of followers. His number of followers on Instagram outnumber that of present US President, Donald Trump and former US President Barack Obama. He is the most followed world leader on Instagram and has been constantly been in touch with the people of the country as well as with other world leaders through his social media accounts.
Narendra Modi has been actively channelizing his Digital India initiative through his strong online presence so it could reach all the sections of society.
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi found a chance and tweeted “Give up hatred, not social media accounts.” This way, he sarcastically tweets about PM's wrongful governance and his way of treating the Indians.
Modi joined Twitter in January 2009, when he was the Chief Minister of Gujarat. Only a few politicians including Congress leader Shashi Tharoor were active on the micro-blogging site.
