Prakash Raj in Legal Trouble!

Actor Prakash Raj, who recently contested as an independent in Lok Sabha elections, has now landed in a legal trouble. His upcoming directional venture Tadka, which is a Hindi remake of a Telugu film ‘Ulavacharu Biryani’ has created a problem to Prakash Raj even before its release. He was sued by Essel Vision – a Zee group company for not paying Rs 5.88 crores as per the agreement. Prakash Raj and the production house had signed an agreement with Essel Vision in 2016 and gave 60% stake of the film’s IP. Prakash Raj ensured that the entire amount will be paid by mid-July but failed to do so, which made Essel approach the court.
For now, the actor has given a cheque of Rs 2 crores to clear some amount. The court warned him that he will be held accountable for 'aggravated contempt of court', if the cheque bounces. Essel now gave him time until February to pay the remaining amount. The song ‘song Khainch Le Qashh’ from the film which was earlier released by Zee Music Company on YouTube has been deleted now because of the court issues.
One of the actors of the film, Ali Fazal tweeted, "There’s a court case on the producers of this film as far as i remember. Cheques had bounced. Actors and crew still havent gotten paid. Surprised to see a promotional song coming out from the film.(sic)". Speaking about the film, it stars Nana Patekar, Shriya Saran, Ali Fazal, Taapsee Pannu, Rajesh Sharma, Lillete Dubey, Murali Sharma and Naveen Kaushik.
