Prisoner’s Unusual and Creative Escape Attempt

Brazilian drug dealer, Clauvino da Silva, 42, who was serving a ten year of the sentence in the prison tried to escape on Saturday. But Clauvino was caught in the middle of the action. He was masked as his daughter. He was wearing an eerie plastic mask, long black wig and women’s clothes. After the incident, the prison authorities released a video that went viral on social media. In the video, he was seen removing his disguise.

Clauvino’s unusual attempt to break out of the prison disguised as his daughter was echoed around the world. Such an attempt to escape from prison was never heard of before.

However, Clauvino was found dead in his cell, in a high-security unit in the state's Bangu prison complex, on Tuesday. The Rio de Janeiro state authorities said he apparently hanged himself as his attempt to break out failed. Rio prison authority said, “The inmate appears to have hanged himself with a bedsheet,”. The authorities, who were soaring high on Saturday after they were able to stop Clauvino from breaking out, are embarrassed at his death inside the prison.

In Prison riots that broke out in the northern state of Para, atleast 57 people died last week. In May, 50 inmates died in the northern state of Amazonas in similar circumstances. The overcrowded Brazilian prisons are becoming a problem for the authorities.
