To condemn the violence in Delhi and the alleged complicity of Delhi Police, students from English and Foreign Languages University (EFLU) and Osmania University staged a joint protest on Thursday at the Osmania College.
Students demanded the government to intervene and stop it immediately. They also demanded the resignation of Union Home Minister Amit Shah for not taking any legal action.
Students peacefully organized themselves and raised slogans like ‘Delhi Police down down’, ‘Modi teri tanashahi nahi chalegi’ and ‘Awaz do hum ek hain’. However, police had security arrangements at the mosque and at the Charminar to prevent any physical fights and violence.
Candlelight protests were held at Toli Chowki, Seven Tombs Road, King Koti, and Yakutpura. However, police had forbidden any gathering on the necklace road. Hyderabad police commissioner came out and appealed to the protestors to remain quiet, alert and united so that no one gets the benefit of the chance.
Meanwhile, National media was requested not to show any kind of pictorial and visual presentation of the Delhi riots because it might disturb the mind of people. “It disturbs the mind of common peace-loving people. These are testing times for all of us and we all have to work together and ensure that mischief-makers do not take advantage,” Hyderabad police commissioner said.
