SC To Hear Plea on Tiktok Ban
The Madras High Court had, on 3 April, directed the central government to prohibit the download of mobile application Tiktok, stating that the app hosts inappropriate content, including pornography, which is available for access to children.
Days after the Madras High Court directed the central government to prohibit the download of social media platform Tiktok, an appeal has been filed in the Supreme Court against the order, news agency ANI reported. The Supreme Court, denying an urgent hearing on Monday, 8 April, said it will look into the matter on 15 April.
By becoming addicted to Tiktok App, and similar apps or cyber games, the future of the youngsters and mindset of the children are spoiled the court said in its interim order. The lawmaker had felt that young people using the app was causing rifts within families.
The petition seeking a ban on Tiktok will be heard on 16 April.
The court order is sure to come as a relief for the Tamil Nadu government, which had previously sought a ban on the app.
