Saina Nehwal and Parupalli Kashyap Announce Separation After Seven Years

Ace badminton players Saina Nehwal and Parupalli Kashyap announced their separation after seven years of marriage. In a heartfelt Instagram post, Saina wrote, “Life takes us in different directions… we’ve decided to part ways, choosing peace, growth, and healing.”
Both athletes have played a significant role in Indian badminton. Saina made history by becoming India’s first Olympic badminton medalist in 2012 and later the world No. 1 in 2015. Kashyap was the first Indian male shuttler to reach an Olympic quarterfinal and won gold at the 2014 Commonwealth Games.
Their relationship began in their junior days under coach Pullela Gopichand. Over the years, their bond deepened through shared triumphs and challenges. While Saina continued her medal streak through the 2010s, Kashyap battled injuries, notably a calf injury in 2015 that hindered his progress. Despite setbacks, the couple supported each other throughout their journeys.
Their decision to separate is being respected by fans and peers alike. Saina’s message emphasized gratitude and mutual respect, marking a mature closure to a long-standing partnership both on and off the court.
