Stringent Security Measures for Andhra Pradesh CM's Uravakonda Visit
In anticipation of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy's one-day visit to Uravakonda town in Anantapur district on January 23, comprehensive security arrangements have been meticulously organized. The purpose of the visit is to officiate the distribution of benefits under the YSR Asara scheme to women self-help groups (SHGs) during a public gathering in Uravakonda.
Leading up to the event, Anantapur Collector M. Gowthami and Superintendent of Police K.K.N. Anburajan conducted a thorough inspection of the venue for the public meeting and the helipad in Uravakonda.
In order to ensure the safety and security of the Chief Minister, the Superintendent of Police has issued directives for the deployment of police personnel at all key junctions and along the Chief Minister's travel route. These heightened security measures have been instituted in light of previous protests by Anganwadi workers in the region.
On January 19, Anganwadi workers had staged a protest that resulted in the blocking of the convoy of Minister for Forests P. Ramachandra Reddy, who had been visiting Uravakonda to assess preparations for the Chief Minister's visit. Subsequently, 12 Anganwadi workers were charged in connection with the protest.
The Chief Minister's visit assumes significance following recent alterations in the selection of candidates for Lok Sabha and assembly constituencies in Anantapur and Hindupur districts. These changes have stirred discontent and discord among leaders and supporters of the YSR Congress Party.
