Syndrela Das and Divyanshi Bhowmick Create History as World No. 1 in Under-19 Girls’ Doubles Rankings

In a historic moment for Indian table tennis, Syndrela Das and Divyanshi Bhowmick have climbed to the top of the ITTF Under-19 Girls’ Doubles World Rankings, becoming the No. 1 pair globally with 3,910 points. Their achievement marks a major milestone for India, as six Indian girls’ doubles pairs have entered the world’s top 100 for the first time — a testament to the country’s growing dominance in youth table tennis.
The Indian duo surpassed Chinese Taipei’s Wu Jia-En and Wu Ying-Syuan (3,195 points) and France’s Leana Hochart and Nina Guo Zheng (3,170) to claim the top spot. Their rise has been fuelled by consistent success across international tournaments, including gold medals at the WTT Youth Contender in Goa and the WTT Youth Star Contender in Tunis, along with semifinal finishes in Berlin and Lima. Syndrela’s deft backhand control paired with Divyanshi’s explosive forehand power has made them one of the most formidable young teams in the world.
Other Indian pairs are also making waves on the global circuit. Taneesha Kotecha and Sayali Wani are ranked 13th with 1,575 points, while Suhana Saini and Shriya Anand sit at 22nd after a silver-winning run at the South Asian Youth Championships. The new pairing of Suhana Saini and Taneesha Kotecha ranks 31st, followed by Al Lis Gan and Stuti Kashyap at 34th, and Kheith Cruz and Vaishnavi Jaiswal at 36th.
TTFI Secretary General Kamlesh Mehta hailed the achievement as a “landmark moment for Indian table tennis,” crediting the success to improved grassroots programs and international exposure. With upcoming WTT Youth Contender events in Budapest and Tokyo, India’s rising stars are poised to strengthen their global standing and usher in a new golden era for the sport.
