TCS to Set Up Major IT Hub in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh
In a major boost to Andhra Pradesh's IT sector, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has finalized plans to establish a state-of-the-art IT facility in Visakhapatnam. The new center is expected to create employment opportunities for up to 10,000 individuals, significantly boosting the local economy and positioning Visakhapatnam as a key player in India’s tech landscape.
This agreement was secured during a visit by Andhra Pradesh’s Minister for IT, Communications, and Human Resource Development, Nara Lokesh, to Tata’s headquarters in Mumbai on October 8, 2024. TCS’s new facility follows HCL's recent investment in the city, further solidifying Visakhapatnam's status as a growing hub for IT and innovation.
The announcement comes on the heels of other significant investments in the region, including contributions from the Lulu Group, Brookfield, Oberoi, and Suzlon Energy. These ventures underscore Andhra Pradesh’s resurgence as one of India's most attractive destinations for corporate investment.
Minister Nara Lokesh expressed his excitement about TCS’s decision, stating, "We are proud to announce the development of TCS’s IT facility in Visakhapatnam, which will employ up to 10,000 people. This is a key milestone in our commitment to provide a corporate-friendly environment, guided by our ‘speed of doing business’ motto. This investment brings us closer to making Andhra Pradesh India’s number one state for business opportunities."
