TSRTC inaugurates 40 electric buses in Hyderabad

Telangana State Road Transport Corporation inaugurated its first fleet of 40 electric buses and has become the first state to deploy such a large number of buses in the country.

These Electric Buses are manufactured in India by Olectra Greentech (Formerly Goldstone Infratech) in a strategic tie-up with BYD Auto Industry Co. Ltd – world’s largest electric vehicle company.

The 12-Metre Air-Conditioned low floor buses having a capacity of 39+1 (Driver) seats. It has lithium-ion (Li-ion) Battery installed which enables it to travel up to 250 plus kilometres in a single charge. The battery can be fully recharged in between 4-5 hours. It has Electronically controlled air suspension to ensure a comfortable journey and it also has a regenerative braking system which enables the bus to recover part of the kinetic energy lost in braking.

These electric buses will also contribute significantly to reduce pollution levels.
