Telangana Police Arrest Osmania University Professor For Alleged Links With Maoists

The case is still under investigation and police have been indulged in collecting material evidence. According to the Telangana Police, Kaseem was in contact with CPI (Maoist) State Committee member Hari Bhushan alias Jagan and other top leaders of the Central Committee.
Kaseem has been found accused in the 2016 car accident case in which Shyam Sundar of Allahabad was driving a car from Hyderabad towards Karimnagar when he hit a girl who died on the spot. He fled from the crime scene but was arrested by Mulugu police soon after. When police searched the vehicle they found incriminating evidence including some against professor Kaseem and Maoist party leadership inside the vehicle.
Kaseem was recently elected state secretary for the ‘Viplava Rachayitala Sangham (VIRASAM)’. However, he has been taken into police custody and later shifted to an unknown place for further investigation.
Many students took out a rally on campus to protest against it. Some of the protesting students were also detained and shifted to a police station. If the numbers are to be believed, then a total of 20 students have been detained till now.
