An Indian-American journalist Brahm Kanchibotla, a Telugu native, has died of novel Coronavirus in New York, US.
Brahm Kanchibotla was 66 and worked as a correspondent for the United News of India. He first recognized COVID-19 symptoms at the end of March. Soon after his condition got worse and following it, he was admitted to a hospital on Long Island on March 28 and given an oxygen mask.
On March 31, he was put on a ventilator and breathed his last after he had a cardiac arrest. He died on Monday after being for nine days in the hospital.
“We have not set a date and it will have to be a very small gathering because only ten people are allowed at funerals," Sudama Kanchibotla, son of the journalist said.
He had emigrated to the US in 1992 after working for many publications in India. Since then, he worked as a correspondent for the United News of India. His family isn’t sure about his last rites and facing difficulties due to the lockdown norms and restrictions made by the government.
Besides Sudama, Brahm is survived by wife Anjana and daughter Sujana.
