Tesla told workers not to discuss pay: US labour board.
Tesla has been accused of violating US labour laws by directing employees not to discuss pay and working conditions. In a complaint, the NLRB (National Labor Relations Board) claimed that the electric car maker "told employees not to complain to higher level managers about their pay or other conditions of employment" and said "not to discuss their pay with other persons."
Additionally, the company allegedly instructed employees not to discuss hiring, suspensions, or terminations among themselves. According to the complaint, these incidents occurred between December 2021 and January 2022. Musk was forced to delete an anti-union tweet and fired union activist Richard Ortiz by the NLRB in 2021. A judge will hear the complaints' arguments during a February hearing.
Recently, two Tesla employees filed complaints with the NLRB claiming they were illegally terminated for criticizing Musk. Additionally, two female Twitter employees filed a class-action lawsuit against the company, accusing it of violating state and federal laws that ban workplace discrimination. According to the class-action lawsuit, Musk laid off 57% more women than men.
Several Twitter employees have filed complaints against Twitter with the US National Labor Relations Board (NLRB).
