Tesla’s first Electric Cybertruck demo failed; windows shattered

“Oh my fucking god”, utters Elon Musk, co-founder and CEO of Tesla Inc. Sounding surprised when the demo of the company’s first pick-up cybertruck went horribly wrong smashing windows all over the floor both for the driver’s and passenger’s sides.

It is Tesla’s first electric Cybertruck and was supposed to have ‘armored glass windows’ which Elon Musk once called ‘Transparent metal’. Unfortunately, it’s not as tough as Musk thought it would be, and the vehicle’s glass was smashed after being hit with a large steel ball bearing during a demo.

The demo for the truck was being carried out by Tesla’s lead designer Franz von Holzhausen who was asked to throw a large ball-bearing like metal ball first at the driver’s seat. Unexpectedly, after throwing the large metal ball, glass crashed all over and shattered into pieces.

Further, to demonstrate the strength of the glass Elon asked him to check for the passenger seat too, and as it was unpredictable, the glass of the passenger side too was shattered into pieces.

Surprised and a bit dejected by the test failed, Mr Musk said, "It didn't go through”. He also told the audience that in the tests performed earlier, it didn’t break even we threw wrenches and all sorts of things hitting hard on it.

"We even literally threw a kitchen sink at the glass, and it didn't break. For a little weird reason it broke now, I don't know why. We'll fix it in the post," he added.

This fail of the attempt means a lot of work to be done on it again and issues to be fixed and all the precautions to be taken care of properly.

The Tesla Cybertruck will have a starting price of $39,900 and a maximum range of 500 plus miles. Production is expected to begin in late 2021.
