This Indian Inventor has More Patents than Thomas Edison!
Even kids will easily answer if you question who invented the electric bulb! Thomas Alva Edison is well known as ‘The Father of Inventions’ and now, here is the more interesting news! This Indian-origin inventor is the world’s 7th best inventor with more patents than Edison. While Edison had 1084 patents to his name, Gurtej Sandhu has 1325 patents. This 58-year-old inventor is 7th on the worldwide list of most prolific inventors. Currently, he is residing in Idaho, USA, and working as the Vice President of Micron Technology. Gurutej is a degree holder in electrical engineering from IIT Delhi and did his Ph.D. in physics from the University of North Carolina in the year 1990.
Though Gurutej got an opportunity to work as a computer memory maker, he has opted for a startup-Micron Technology and this decision helped him to grow. While working with Micron, he got his first few patents. Gurutej is working on Moore’s Law, self-driving cars, Big Data and other projects. “Sandhu developed a method of coating microchips with titanium without exposing the metal to oxygen, which would ruin the chips. Initially, he didn't think his idea was a big deal, but now most memory-chip makers use the process,” business forecast publisher Kiplinger said.
“His pioneering achievements concerning patterning and materials integration have enabled the continuation of Moore’s Law for aggressive scaling of memory chips integral to consumer electronics products such as cell phones, digital cameras and solid-state drives for personal and cloud server computers,” the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) praised. IEEE had also honored Sadhu with the Andrew S. Grove Award for his work on SSD and Technology.
