"Toilets for her " - Anand Mahindra appreciates the initiative and intends to support
Chairman of Mahindra Group, Anand Mahindra has appreciated the efforts by Pune based duo in transferring the scrapped buses into toilets for women. He also asked Vinod Sahay, CEO of Mahindra Truck and Bus Division to see if it can support the initiative.
Anand Mahindra tweeted, "Like all great ideas, this one too seems like such an obvious thing to do... Huge applause for the duo behind this. Changing India..step by step.. @vinod_sahay can our Truck and Bus division support this initiative? "
The old buses which were likely to have ended their life either in landfill sites or at a scrap dealer’s yard, but luckily, they were refurbished and put to good use by converting it into restrooms to provide women with clean toilets. Thanks to Ulka Sadalkar and her business partner Rajeev Kher who came up with this sustainable solution.
Each mobile toilet bus is solar powered and comes with Indian-style toilets, western-style ones, shower, hand-washing basins with soaps, sanitary napkins, a diaper-changing station, drinking water. Also, it is wifi-enabled as well.
This mobile toilet has been beneficial for many women and with the recent tweet by Anand Mahindra there are hopes that it will contribute and make this initiative more successful.
