Tony Blair Praises Telangana’s Growth, Calls It a Global Model of Progress
Former British Prime Minister Tony Blair has lauded Telangana’s remarkable growth since its formation in 2014, describing it as a powerful example of economic transformation and inclusive development. Speaking virtually at the Global Summit, Blair echoed the views recently expressed by former RBI Governor D. Subbarao, both praising the state’s extraordinary progress over the last decade.
Blair highlighted that Telangana’s Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) has nearly tripled in ten years, while its per capita income has become one of the highest in India. According to him, the transformation of Hyderabad and the state as a whole reflects a success story built on technological innovation, agricultural expansion, and forward-looking governance.
He noted that Telangana had begun its journey as a newly formed state with many aspirations but has since evolved into a “powerhouse of technology, agriculture, and inclusive growth.” Blair emphasised that the state is now seen as a model that other regions around the world may study and emulate. He praised Hyderabad for its global prominence, strong economic ecosystem, and rapid development in sectors ranging from IT to infrastructure.
As India works toward its goal of becoming a fully developed nation by 2047, Blair said Telangana’s growth story aligns perfectly with the country’s larger vision. His remarks come as a significant endorsement, especially at a time when political debates over development narratives are prominent. Blair’s observations reinforce Telangana’s image as a progressive and future-ready state on the global map.
