Total Cases in India Reaches 3,577

The total number of COVID19 positive cases rise to 3577 in India with the death toll of 83, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare reported.

A total of 505 cases of COVID-19 positive spiked in the last 24 hours while 267 people have recovered from the disease. This sudden surge in the numbers is because of the Tabligh-e-Jamaat incident.

More than 1,000 people who attended the religious congregation held by Islamic group Tabligh-e-Jamaat in Delhi last month have tested positive, the government said on Saturday.

PM Modi also called the citizens to light a ‘diya’ in a fight against coronavirus. People across the country will put off their lights to light diyas, candles and flash mobile lights to show solidarity with all those who are at the forefront of the ‘war’ against the deadly infection.

Meanwhile, the number of cases state-wise saw a huge jump with Tamil Nadu recording 86 new cases making it to 581 in the state. National capital Delhi also crossed a 500 mark on Sunday amongst which 320 are the ones who attended Tabligh-e-Jamaat.
