UIDAI Introduces New Baal Aadhar Card For Children Below 5

UIDAI has launched a drive to introduce a new blue-colored ‘Baal Aadhaar’ card for children up to the age of 5 on Wednesday (February 12). UIDAI tweeted on its official handle about the new change.

The UIDAI tweet said, “#AadhaarForMyChild Blue colored ‘Baal Aadhaar’ can only be used up to the age of 5, after which it becomes invalid. A mandatory biometric update is required to reactivate the child’s Aadhaar.”

The Baal Aadhar is issued to kids who are aged below 5 years and there is no need for them to provide any biometric information while getting registered for the same. The Baal Aadhar card is printed with a blue theme so that it can be easily differentiated from an adult Aadhar card.

The blue-colored Baal Aadhaar card will now help parents with kids to avail the benefits through this card. But as soon children cross five years of age, up-gradation of the card is mandatory with genuine biometric details provided by parents.

Just similar to the Aadhar which is meant for adults, the Baal Aadhar also has a 12 digit unique identification number.

Here are the steps to guide you on how to apply for a Baal Aadhaar Card:

Book an appointment with the nearest UIDAI Aadhaar Card Center by logging in at the following link: appointments.uidai.gov.in/bookappointment.aspx?AspxAutoDetectCookieSupport=1;

Visit the nearest Aadhaar Card Center with your child on the given date.

Fill the Aadhaar Card registration form.

Attach a birth certificate of the child with a duly filled Aadhaar Card registration form.

Attach both parents’ Aadhaar Card copy with duly filled Aadhaar Card registration form.

Paste the required number of photographs on the Aadhaar Card registration form.

Submit it to the Aadhaar Card Center official.

Aadhaar Card Center official will link Baal Aadhaar’s form with either of the parents’ Aadhaar Card.

Then a confirmation message will come on either of the parents registered mobile numbers.

After the confirmation message, the Baal Aadhaar Card will be delivered on the given mail address within 60.
