US Backs India, Asks Pakistan to Act Against Terror
The US has asked Pakistan to act against terrorist groups a day after India destroyed a major terror training camp (JeM) across the Line of Control.
US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said also called for India and Pakistan to exercise restraint to reduce the tension between the two countries.
Mr Pompeo spoke separately with Foreign Ministers Sushma Swaraj and her Pakistan counterpart Shah Mahmood Qureshi, asking them to communicate directly and avoid further military activities.
Sushma Swaraj defended air strikes saying that it wasn't a military operation as the objective was to act against the terrorist infrastructure of JeM to avoid another terror attack in India.
“India doesn't wish to see a further escalation of the situation. It'll continue to act with responsibility and restraint," Ms Swaraj said.
