US President Donald Trump Trip To India Highlights

US President Donald Trump arrived in Ahmedabad today with his wife Melania Trump for the first leg of his two-day trip to India. Daughter Ivanka, son-in-law Jared Kushner and top brass of his administration, to get a taste of India’s cultural potpourri, also accompanied Trump.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport received US President Trump and Melania Trump.

Here are the highlights of Trump and Modi's day in Ahmedabad:

PM Narendra Modi hugged and welcomed US President Donald Trump.

Trump was seen sporting a bright yellow tie, the US First Lady (FLOTUS) Melania dressed in a white jumpsuit with a green scarf draped around her waist. She warmly shook hands with the PM.

Trumps, accompanied by PM Modi, walked to their cavalcade amidst music and dance performances organized at the airport for their welcome.

Leaving the airport, the US President, along with the US First Lady, headed straight to Mahatma Gandhi's Sabarmati Ashram wearing the traditional Indian scarf. All were seen posing by the iconic 'charkha' synonymous with Mahatma Gandhi.

The US President signed the visitor's book at the Sabarmati Ashram and posed with the "three monkeys" statue.

On their way to Sardar Vallabhai Patel Stadium in Motera, Ahmedabad, people cheered at the cavalcade throughout the 22 km stretch from the airport to the stadium. People, waving and welcoming the US President, greeted trump’s cavalcade. The Sardar Vallabhai Patel Stadium is popularly known as the Motera Stadium and is the largest cricket stadium in the world with a seating capacity of over a lakh people. The newly constructed infrastructural marvel is the venue for the "Namaste Trump" event.

Several gifts, including Mahatama Gandhi Ji's biography, a charkha (spinning wheel) and a marble statue of three monkeys, symbolising ‘See No Evil, Speak No Evil and Hear No Evil’, were presented to Donald Trump at the Sabarmati Ashram.

Donald Trump and Narendra Modi took the stage at Motera stadium, while the National anthems of US and India played at the Motera cricket stadium. The leaders addressed the jam-packed stadium.

Both Narendra Modi and Donald Trump talked about US-India relations and bilateral issues. Each one of them quoted the other as an example and cited each other as an inspiration for the rest of the nation. Trump said that economy in India grew under the leadership of Modi whereas Modi appreciated the presence of Ivanka and her husband. Trump talked about India’s achievements and its unique culture and heritage.

Around 25,000 students welcomed the US President Donald and Melania Trump in Uttar Pradesh’s Agra. The students greeted Trump along the 13-kilometre route planned ahead of his visit to the Taj Mahal.

Donald and Melania Trump reached Agra for their visit to the Taj Mahal, after the US president addressed a mega event named ‘Namaste Trump’ at the Motera stadium in Gujarat. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also addressed the crowd of more than one lakh attendees.

They were received by Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath and state governor Anandiben Patel at the airport.

Ahead of their visit to the Taj Mahal, Donald and Melania Trump were greeted with performances by hundreds of artists displaying the culture of Uttar Pradesh after they landed in Agra, News18 reported.

US President Donald Trump arrived at the Taj Mahal. The 17^thcentruy monument has been refurbished to welcome Trump and his family. They will spent about an hour here.

US President Donald Trump’s daughter Ivanka Trump and her husband Jared Kushner took a tour of the Taj Mahal.

“The Taj Mahal inspires awe. A timeless testament to the rich and diverse beauty of Indian culture! Thank you India,” the US president and First Lady wrote in the visitor’s book at the monument.

After a guided tour of the Taj Mahal, the Trumps left for the Agra airport. They will soon leave for New Delhi, where they are scheduled to arrive at 7.30 pm.
