Virat Kohli Hails RCB Women, Smriti Mandhana After Historic WPL 2026 Triumph
Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) Women reinforced their growing legacy in Indian women’s cricket by clinching their second Women’s Premier League (WPL) title with a sensational victory over Delhi Capitals in the 2026 final at Vadodara’s BCA Stadium. Chasing a daunting target of 204, RCB scripted history by completing the highest successful run chase in WPL history, winning the final with six wickets in hand and two balls to spare.
Delhi Capitals posted an imposing 203/4, anchored by Jemimah Rodrigues’ fluent 57 and valuable contributions from Laura Wolvaardt, who added 44 at the top. However, RCB’s response was nothing short of extraordinary. Captain Smriti Mandhana led from the front with a breathtaking 87 off just 41 deliveries, combining elegance with controlled aggression. She was brilliantly supported by Georgia Voll, whose composed yet attacking 79 off 54 balls ensured RCB never lost momentum. Their decisive 165-run partnership for the second wicket completely swung the contest in Bengaluru’s favour.
The victory not only made RCB joint-most successful franchise alongside Mumbai Indians but also underlined the team’s depth, resilience, and composure under pressure throughout the 2026 season.
Celebrating the achievement, Virat Kohli, the long-standing face of the RCB franchise, penned a heartfelt message on Instagram congratulating the women’s team. He praised Mandhana’s leadership, the squad’s commitment, and the management’s efforts, calling the triumph a moment of immense pride for the entire RCB family.
Speaking after the win, Mandhana credited the unwavering support of RCB fans, calling them the best in the world. She dedicated the title to them and proudly reaffirmed the franchise’s winning spirit, declaring, “Ee sala cup namdu – again,” as RCB celebrated another golden chapter in its history.
