World’s Richest Man Lands In India, Pays Tribute To Mahatma Gandhi

World’s richest man and CEO of Amazon Jeff Bezos is in India nowadays to attend a flagship event by the company. The first thing he did was to pay respect to Mahatma Gandhi at Mahatma Gandhi’s memorial in Delhi.
He took to his twitter handle sharing a video of the same and captioned “Just landed in India and spent a beautiful afternoon paying my respects to someone who truly changed the world.” He also shared one of the quote of Mahatma Gandhi “Live as if you were to die tomorrow. Learn as if you were to live forever.” – Mahatma Gandhi. During all this he wore Indian traditional attire – white kurta and an orange half-jacket.
Today he will host a two-day event in the capital “Smbhav”. It could also be predicted that he is in the country to gain trust and garner goodwill with the government.
On Monday, the Competition Commission of India ordered a formal probe of allegations that Amazon and Walmart’s Flipkart were promoting some brands over others—practices that would violate Indian laws requiring foreign-owned e-commerce businesses to be neutral marketplaces.
However, on his visit, thousands of small brick-and-mortar retailers, led by the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT), have planned a countrywide protest against the company. He will also hold a two-day event in the capital starting January 15, “Smbhav” focussing on small and medium businesses in India. Also, he is expected to discuss regulatory matters in his meetings with government officials.
