Andhra Pradesh CM Naidu Brings Tech Solutions to Public Services, Teams Up with Meta for Digital Governance
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, known for his forward-thinking tech initiatives, is once again focusing on using technology to improve governance. Renowned for transforming Hyderabad into a thriving tech hub during his tenure as the Chief Minister of undivided Andhra Pradesh from 1995 to 2004, Naidu has earned a reputation as the “CEO” of the state. Now, he is steering Andhra towards tech-driven governance by implementing services that leverage cutting-edge technology.
In a recent move, Naidu’s government has entered a strategic partnership with Meta to deliver essential government documents through WhatsApp. This initiative aims to improve public access to services, with the first phase introducing 100 services via WhatsApp by the end of November. Meta’s WhatsApp Business Solution, supported by AI tools like Llama, is expected to enhance service efficiency. “This will address the challenges young people face in obtaining various certificates,” said Nara Lokesh, the state’s minister for education and information technology, who gained insights from his Yuva Galam Padayatra in 2023.
Meta India’s Vice-President, Sandhya Devanathan, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, noting that integrating AI with WhatsApp will allow seamless access to services and real-time updates, capable of reaching a million people per hour. The collaboration is expected to increase transparency, security, and ease of access in areas like education, skilling, and eventually bill payments.
In another forward-thinking initiative, Naidu has also pledged to develop Andhra Pradesh as a hub for drone technology. Following the signing of the MoU with Meta, he announced 300 acres of land near Kurnool for a drone facility and inaugurated the Amaravati Drone Summit in Vijayawada. He aims to build a “Drone City” in Amaravati, positioning it as a center for drone technology in India. The CM also plans to issue 20,000 drone pilot certificates and train 35,000 drone operators, contributing to the workforce for this emerging sector.
With these tech initiatives, Naidu is bringing Andhra Pradesh closer to his vision of a digitally empowered and technologically advanced state.
