Hyderabad: Six-Member Committee Formed to Probe Gulzar Houz Fire Tragedy

In the wake of the devastating fire at Gulzar Houz in Hyderabad that claimed the lives of 17 members of a single family, the Telangana State government has constituted a six-member high-level committee to investigate the incident. The tragic event has sparked widespread concern over fire safety in densely populated urban areas.
The committee has been tasked with conducting a thorough probe and submitting a detailed report to Chief Minister Revanth Reddy. Along with establishing the causes behind the fire, the panel will also be responsible for recommending preventive measures to avoid such tragedies in the future.
The members of the committee include top officials from various departments: GHMC Commissioner R.V. Karnan, Hyderabad District Collector Anudeep Durishetty, Hyderabad Commissioner of Police C.V. Anand, Director General of Fire Services Y. Nagi Reddy, Hyderabad Commissioner A.V. Ranganath, and TSSPDCL CMD Md Musharraf Faruqui. The inclusion of senior officials from civic administration, law enforcement, fire services, and the power sector reflects the government’s commitment to a comprehensive investigation.
The committee is scheduled to visit the fire site on Wednesday to inspect the premises and gather first-hand information. This visit will play a crucial role in determining the sequence of events that led to the fatal blaze and identifying any lapses in safety protocols.
Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has expressed deep sorrow over the incident and emphasized the need for accountability and immediate action.
