KCR, KTR Pay Tribute to Poet Dasarathi Krishnamacharya on Centenary

BRS Chief and former Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao (KCR) paid rich tributes to revolutionary Telugu poet Dasarathi Krishnamacharya on his 100th birth anniversary. KCR hailed the late poet as a cultural icon and a proud son of Telangana who gave voice to the struggles of the oppressed through his powerful writings.
In a statement released on Tuesday, KCR recalled how Dasarathi Krishnamacharya used his literary talents to showcase Telangana’s unique cultural identity and to inspire generations through his words. Quoting the famous line “Naa Telangana… Koti Ratnala Veena,” KCR said that Dasarathi’s poetry resonated deeply with the people and reflected the spirit of resistance and pride that defines Telangana.
KCR emphasized that under the previous BRS government, several initiatives were taken to preserve the poet's legacy. These included the institution of the Dasarathi Krishnamacharya Literary Award and state-sponsored celebrations of his birth anniversary. He expressed his hope that future generations would continue to draw inspiration from the poet’s revolutionary spirit and commitment to social justice.
KTR, BRS working president and son of KCR, also joined in paying respects, highlighting the poet’s contributions to Telugu literature and Telangana's cultural renaissance. The tributes were accompanied by cultural events across the state, including poetry readings, discussions, and exhibitions.
Dasarathi Krishnamacharya remains a towering figure in Telugu literature and the Telangana movement. His poetry, infused with emotion and resistance, gave a voice to the voiceless and continues to inspire literary and social movements across the region. The centenary celebrations serve as a reminder of his enduring influence and the power of words to ignite change.
