Trump to Decide US Role in Israel-Iran Conflict Within Two Weeks

The White House announced that President Donald Trump will decide within two weeks whether the United States will involve itself in the ongoing Israel-Iran conflict. White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said Trump is currently weighing diplomatic options amid reports of possible nuclear negotiations with Iran.

The conflict, now in its eighth day, escalated after Israel launched “Operation Rising Lion” on June 13, targeting Iranian nuclear and military sites. Iran retaliated with drone and missile strikes, including a recent attack on Soroka Medical Center in Israel, which injured many civilians and medical staff.

President Trump, while denying reports that military action had already been approved, stated that if faced with a choice between conflict and allowing Iran to possess nuclear weapons, he would choose to act. However, he emphasized that diplomacy is the first option, and a two-week window has been set aside for talks.

In parallel, Israel's leadership, including Prime Minister Netanyahu and Defence Minister Israel Katz, has called for strong retaliatory action. Katz even suggested targeting Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei directly for his alleged role in the hospital strike.

Trump’s decision could significantly influence the trajectory of the Middle East crisis and international diplomatic efforts to curb nuclear proliferation.
