11 Indians Die Of Covid-19 In The US
At least 11 Indians have died due to Covid-19 in theUS with another 16 testing positive for the virus. COVID-19 virus has claimed more than 14,000 lives and afflicted more than 4 lakh people in America.
All Indian citizens who have died due to the deadly virus in the US are men, with 10 of them from the NY and NJ area. 4 of the victims are said to be taxi drivers in NY City.
Authorities are also ascertaining the nationality of some other Indian origin people in the states of Texas and California.
All 16 Indians, including 4 women, who have tested positive for COVID-19 are in self-quarantine. They hail from Indian states like Maharashtra, Karnataka, Uttarakhand, and Uttar Pradesh.
Consulates across the US and Indian Embassy officials are working closely with local authorities and Indian-American organizations to provide necessary assistance to Indian nationals and students affected with the virus.
Because of the strict travel restrictions and regulations to prevent the spread of the deadly COVID-19, local city officials have been performing the last rites of the deceased. In many cases are not even allowing their immediate family members to attend their cremations, officials said.
