Andhra Pradesh RTA: Duplicate Permits Found
Many cases of negligence by Andhra Pradesh Regional Transport Authority (RTA) have been found in the past. A few of such cases came into highlight recently.
In one case, an autorickshaw driver, Kanaka Raju Vangapally, found that the registration number of his autorickshaw was also allocated to a goods carrier. He got his auto-registered in the North Zone Secunderabad RTA office, while goods carrier was registered at East Godavari Kakinada RTA office.
In another case, a resident of Golconda decided to sell his auto but he was informed that his permit was invalid. B. Mohan Rao was shocked when he came to know that his permit number belonged to some other auto.
In yet another case, the same permit number was allocated to three different vehicles. In all these cases, the vehicle owners are asked to pay money to RTA to get errors fixed. When data is entered in the system, in case of duplicate entries, the system shows the issue. So, how the same numbers are issued is a matter of investigation.
