Chagari Praveen Kumar Appointed as Chief Justice of New Andhra High Court
Justice Chagari Praveen Kumar has been appointed as the Chief Justice to help the newly created Andhra Pradesh High Court at Amaravati. The appointment was made by President Ram Nath Kovind on Thursday.
The notification was released by the Union Law Ministry stating “Consequent upon the constitution of separate High Court for the State of Andhra Pradesh by the President vide notification dated 26.12.2018, and in exercise of the powers conferred by Article 223 of the Constitution of India, the President is pleased to appoint Shri Justice Chagari Praveen Kumar, senior-most Judge of the High Court of Andhra Pradesh, to perform the duties of the office of the Chief Justice of that High Court with effect from 01.01.2019.”
Another notification was released to intimate that Justice TB Radhakrishnan, the Chief Justice of the former High Court for both states will continue to work as Chief Justice of Hyderabad High Court, which is set to become the High Court for the State of Telangana from next year.
