IISC Blast Took Away 1 Life and 3 Injured
The popular research institute ‘Indian Institute of Science (IISC)’ faced an unfortunate incident.
On Wednesday, A blast has taken place inside IISC, Bengaluru, at around 2.15 PM. In the incident, a researcher was killed and three were injured.
Manoj Kumar who was 27-year-old was killed in the incident, whereas Athulya Kumar, Naresh Kumar and Karthik Shenoy escaped the death with injuries.
According to reports, it was a cylinder explosion in hypersonic lab of Aerospace Engineering department that was took place during an experiment.
According to the Head of Department Prof G Jagadeesh, when a shock wave was being created as part of a research project in the lab, the cylinder had exploded which lead to this sad incident.
It is suspected that it was the Hydrogen cylinder which intensity of explosion is very high, that has taken away a life.
During the explosion, Manoj Kumar was thrown 20 feet away and died on the spot. The Forensic Science Laboratory is trying to identify the reason of the blast.
"Forensic experts would determine the actual cause of the accident but it seems like a cylinder blast," Assistant Commissioner of Police Niranjan Raj said to media.
